Healdsburg Wild Steelhead Festival

The Festival  kicks off Friday evening at 6pm with the Steelhead Reception in the Lobby at Hotel Healdsburg. The Gala Dinner, prepared by Chef Michael Ellis of the Dry Creek Kitchen Restaurant, will be held at Hotel Healdsburg. We are proud to announce that Russell Chatham, reknowned artist and author, joins us as keynote speaker for the evening. Saturday, Under big tents, the Healdsburg Plaza is the place to be from 10am – 4pm where there will be free activities and attractions for kids of all ages. A huge fishing pond will be well stocked with trout for the young angler in your family to try their hand at fishing. Poles will be provided. There will be demonstrations on fly-tying, fly fishing and cooking demos, and the latest in  fishing gear you need to enhance your fishing experience.  Educational booths will be brought to us by the Department of Fish and Game, NOAA,   Trout Unlimited , Russian Riverkeeper, Sonoma County Water Agency and many more.There will be arts and crafts to do and a fish maze, where children can “be the steelhead’  and make their way upstream through all sorts of obstacles.

KSRO Radio will be broadcasting live from the Plaza featuring Garden Talk with Steve Garner and Dave Fazzio from 9-11 followed by The Good Food Hour with Chef John Ash and Steve Garner from 11 -12pm.  John Ash will later join Relish Culinary in a live fish cooking demo!

Trout Bums will be in town with their Fly Fishing Film Tour   (click link to get tickets online) at the Raven Film Center.  They will have film tickets and DVD’s for sale in the Plaza.  The films are scheduled for 5pm and 8pm.

A shuttle bus from River’s Edge Kayak and Canoe will be taking interested folks to see fish viewing sites nearby and visiting fish-friendly wineries.

The Santa Rosa Cycling Club will be holding a morning bike ride from Downtown Healdsburg  up to the Fish Hatchery. For more information on  how to join them, check out srcc.com  for all the details.

There are wonderful weekend packages from the areas’ charming lodging choices and fine restaurants around the Plaza will be cooking up special Fish Dinners in the evening to round out your day.

Sunday, Relish Culinary will be offering a fish cooking class and there will be fishing guides available to take you out to those secret spots to end the perfect fish weekend.  Book those guides early so you don’t miss out!
