On Wednesday, March 28, Cat Kuhlman, Executive Officer of the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, will be our guest for the SCWC tech meeting at the Environmental Center at 55A Ridgway in Santa Rosa.
Cat Kuhlman will begin with a review of her agency’s current focus and the constraints and challenges faced as a result of funding inadequacies.
She will also give updates on the following topics (NOT in order of importance):
TMDL‘s and the 303(d) list process, water quality impacts of low flow, timber harvest regulations and issues, Laguna status and nutrient issues, urban and ag irrigation issues, NPDES permits (incl Santa Rosa), the Salt and Nutrient Management Plan, septic systems and AB 885, groundwater issues, recent proposals to deregulate wastewater irrigation (AB2398), moves to declassify treated wastewater as a “waste” in State law and how this would interact with the Federal Clean Water Act.
Other topics related to water quality may be added to this list. It’s unlikely that we’ll run out of topics for discussion!
Hope to see you at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening. $5.00 donation suggested. No one will be turned away from this open meeting for lack of funds.
