Regional Water Board samples on Wednesdays from May 30 through September 4 Sonoma County Water Agency samples on Tuesdays and resamples on Thursday in response to exceedances
Red Type identifies exceedances of the following EPA and California State Department of Public Health guidelines:
E. Coli: 235 MPN per 100 mL; Enterococcus: 70 MPN per 100 mL E. Coli = Escherichia coli MPN Entero. = Enterococcus MPN
Total coliform bacteria are commonly found in the environment (e.g., soil and vegetation) and are found in human and animal fecal matter (Minnesota Department of Health 2005). Therefore, data on total coliform abundance in surface water samples do not indicate whether the source of total coliform detections are from natural, animal, or human sources. Better indicators of human and animal fecal inputs are fecal coliform, E. coli, and Enterococcus.
